Celebrate women’s sports with new awards

03 March 2016

Do you know a local club or individual who has gone above and beyond to improve sports opportunities for women and girls in the Caboolture region?

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, is encouraging local people to nominate clubs or individuals who have inspired women and girls to get active and stay health for the Queensland Government’s new Start Playing Stay Playing Excellence Awards.

“Nominations are open for men or women, organisations or individuals who have done something great to motivate women and girls to keep fit,” Mr Ryan said.

“In fact anyone who has made a positive difference for women and girls in our community is eligible and we want to celebrate their outstanding commitment.”

The awards program will comprise two rounds per ear, with the winner of each of three categories considered for the annual Minister’s Start Playing Stay Playing Excellence Award.

Nominations in Round One must be submitted by 31 March 2016 under one of three categories: Inclusion, Innovation or Inspiration.

“There are some great prizes up for grabs including medals, certificates, merchandise packs and $1,000 to help winners keep getting women and girls involved in recreational activities.

“The overall winner of the Minister’s Start Playing Stay Playing Excellence Award will receive an additional $2,000 money prize.”
