28 April 2017

A new police station will be built in Caboolture as part of the QPS commitment to community safety and policing services across Queensland.

Building commenced on the current Caboolture Police Station located at 34 King Street, Caboolture in 1984 it was officially opened on 8 April 1986. The facility houses the Caboolture Police Station and associated Moreton District functions.

Minister Mark Ryan said the Palaszczuk Government is committed to ensuring our police have the resources and facilities they need to keep our communities safe.

“This new police station will mean our police here in Caboolture will have access to state-of-the-art facilities to enhance their policing service to our region,” Minister Ryan said.

“The land in Caboolture has been identified as a suitable site, and is considered appropriate to fulfil the operational requirements of the Southern Region and the construction of the replacement Caboolture Police Station and Moreton District Office.

“This government said we would replace and upgrade police facilities across the state and that is exactly what we are doing.

“The land has been purchased by the Palaszczuk Government on behalf of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) with new building expected to be completed by late 2017.”

Acting Assistant Commissioner for the Southern Region, Brian Swan said the station would be built at a new location, allowing the current station at to continue operations without disruption to regular service.

“The new station will house purpose built areas for the Criminal Investigation Branch and special investigative teams, the Child Protection Investigation Unit, the Suspected Child Abuse Network (SCAN) officer, a Patrol Inspector, a Detective Inspector, General Duties, Crime Prevention Unit and intelligence,” A/AC Swan said.

“The new complex would also give frontline police the ability to take advantage of new technology to support policing in the community and to deliver a modern police service.

“The Queensland Police Service recognises the importance of regional operations and general community safety. The proposed new facility is evidence of this,” he said.
