Local clubs bounce into 2017 with new facilities

16 December 2016

The Narangba Crows AFL Club are celebrating news that the Palaszczuk Labor Government will provide funding to upgrade its clubhouse and toilet facilities at its Burpengary playing fields.

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, said that the Queensland Government had contributed $100,000 to the upgrade under the Get Playing Places and Spaces Funding Program

"I’m very excited about this upgrade and what it means for our local clubs and the community," Mr Ryan said.

"The venue’s clubhouse will receive modifications to the changerooms and extension to include canteen and undercover areas to support the Narangba AFL club as well as the Burpengary Jets Netball Club and the Burpengary Brumbies Cricket Club.

"The new facilities will also increase the accessibility of club sport in our region by allowing the local clubs to promote their facilities and increase membership amongst local kids.

"It will also benefit local schools, which now have the option of using the venue instead of transporting students further afield for interschool competitions.

"I want to acknowledge the Club’s leadership for having the vision and energy to drive this project to fruition and I look forward to continuing to work with them into the future."

Get Playing Places and Spaces is one of four funding programs that make up Get in the Game, a $100 million government investment over the next two years to support grassroots sport and recreation.
