Local performers to ROAR on world stage

16 December 2015

Roar Academy are thrilled to announce that they will be sending a team of 12 senior students to attend and perform in the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta in January 2016.

The Festival brings together over 100 teams who each perform a 15 minute segment of a junior musical theatre work for adjudication. Roar Academy has been invited to perform and will be the ONLY representative team from Australia.

Academy Principal, Madeleine Johns said Roar Academy is the only locally based training facility for all facets of the performing arts – singing, acting and dancing – and caters for students from 5 to 17 years.

“We are always looking for opportunities for our students to perform, whether it be at a charity dinner, a community event or in a musical production, you will see our Roar students there performing,” Ms Johns said.

“Right now these talented students are singing their way around the region at various Christmas events to assist with their fund-raising to enable them to travel to America in January.”

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, was excited to support Roar Academy with a donation to help make this fantastic opportunity a reality.

“It just goes to show what amazing, home grown talent we have here in our community and I’m proud of all the team heading to Atlanta, United States of America.” Mr Ryan said.

The team of Ellie Ferguson, Kaley Jones, Kelsie Parkes, Ashley Prosser, Lucy Turner, Roisin Wallace-Nash, Matthew Bapty, Liam Hartley, Tim Kennedy, Liam Kirkpatrick, Alex Kuchmenko and Jarrad Langtree will be supported by teachers Thomas Armstrong-Robley, Lucas D Lynch and Meredith Johns along with Ms Johns, and 3 parent chaperones who will be leaving on 12 January 2016 for the United States.
