MP fighting to minimise disruption

05 April 2016

While the project to replace the southbound Caboolture River Bridge on Morayfield Road is necessary, it will cause significant congestion along one of our community’s busiest roads.

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, acknowledges that replacing the bridge is important but has made it clear he will fight to minimise the disruption for residents.

“I’ve already had multiple meetings with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) on this and their engineers assure me that the bridge needs to be replaced,” Mr Ryan said.

“But I’m not happy about the disruption this will cause for local residents trying to go about their daily lives.

“This project, although necessary, will cause significant congestion on Morayfield Road and connecting local streets.

“That’s why I’ve been working hard with Minister Bailey and DTMR to ensure that well thought-out measures – including clear alternate routes, increased monitoring and variable messaging signage – are in place prior to construction.

“I’m pleased to say that the Minister and DTMR have been very responsive to the concerns I have raised on behalf of the community.

“There will be disruption, but I want to assure the people of the Morayfield State Electorate that I am on their side and I will continue to work with the Minister and the Department to minimise that disruption and get the new bridge built as quickly as possible.”
