Palaszczuk Government commits to $300,000 upgrades for Caboolture sporting clubs

A re-elected Palaszczuk Labor Government will commit to funding lighting upgrades at two Caboolture sporting clubs, Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan announced today.

Mr Ryan said both the Caboolture and District BMX Club and the Caboolture Rugby Union and Caboolture Touch Association will each receive $150,000 to upgrade field lighting.

“Community sporting clubs like these contribute so much to our local communities,” Mr Ryan said.

“Along with all the benefits that come from getting outdoors and getting active, local clubs are community hubs.

“When kids get involved in local sports, their families become part of a supportive community built around shared values, like determination, commitment, and sportsmanship.”

Mr Ryan said the Caboolture and District BMX club, located at the Centenary Lakes Sports Complex, had been part of the local community for more than 35 years.

“Upgrading the lighting at the track will bring it up to competition standard, which will mean our talented young riders will have more opportunities to develop and compete,” Mr Ryan said.

“The upgraded lighting will be an asset to the club for years to come, and will no doubt encourage new members.”

Caboolture Rugby Union and Caboolture Touch Association would also benefit from lighting upgrades, with the project particularly supporting women’s and girls’ teams.

“The Palaszczuk Government is committed to getting more women and girls involved in grassroots sport, which is why this year we introduced the Female Facilities Program to bring local club change facilities up to standard,” Mr Ryan said.

“With increased participation from women and girls, clubs need to host training and games on weeknights as well as weekends, so by upgrading lighting we’re providing more opportunities for participation.

“Queensland is a powerhouse for sport, and it’s local clubs like these where our elite athletes start out.

“But more importantly, grassroots sporting clubs are the heartbeat of our local communities."
