Teacher Aide Day celebrates special role in our schools

01 September 2017

Local schools are today celebrating Teacher Aide Day, which recognises the very special contributions that teacher aides make in our classrooms.

State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan today visited Morayfield State School and Minimbah State School where he acknowledged the great work of teacher aides.

“Teacher Aide Day is a special day of celebration held on the first Friday in September every year,” Mr Ryan said.

“It’s an opportunity for schools, teachers, and students to show their appreciation for the vital work teacher aides perform in our local classrooms every school day.

“Teacher Aides work closely with teachers to support students’ learning, and to help with practical duties in the classroom.

“They bring a wide range of valuable skills to their work and that has a positive impact on classroom learning and student outcomes.

“That’s why the Palaszczuk Government will deliver a teacher aide for every prep class in Queensland state schools from 2018.

“This commitment builds on our Government’s increase of teacher aide hours by more than 6,000 hours per week for state primary and secondary schools.

“I want to thank each and every teacher aide in our local schools for their hard work and commitment to the education of our young people.”
