22 April 2016

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP, is today encouraging local schools to apply for grants focused on advancing student entrepreneurship in the technology industry.

Mr Ryan said local schools may be eligible for grants of $16,600 through the Palaszczuk Government’s Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow Program.

“This program is focused on developing students’ coding and robotic skills and encouraging them into entrepreneurship,” he said.

“Schools involved in the program will be able to connect students with digital experts, including roboticists, programmers and entrepreneurs.

“It’s a great opportunity for students to develop entrepreneurial skills and prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow.”

Mr Ryan said $1.66 million will be provided to Queensland state schools over three years as part of the program.

“One hundred schools will each receive $16,600 to create a range of innovative entrepreneurial programs with a focus on the creation of digital solutions, including coding and robotics,” Mr Ryan said.

“I encourage all local schools to apply and benefit from this wonderful opportunity.”

Mr Ryan said that Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow was another example of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to skilling young Queenslanders for 21st Century jobs.
